The Weiwei 800 drum type straw crusher works differently. Crushing happens inside a round drum, driven by a 17.5 kW three-phase four-pole motor through a heavy-duty chain drive. At the top, a wide flip-up cover opens the full barrel width and a serrated counter-blade grips the bale while the rotating knives cut and rub it against the drum wall. The drum body is thickened for that load and the machine weighs 295 kg — steady when a whole bale is pushed in, easy to move on casters. Two builds are made: 1250 × 1050 × 1950 mm, or a longer 2050 × 1050 × 1950 mm.
Reverse rotation is the point of this model. If a bale feeds too fast or green fodder wraps the drum, the operator runs the rotor backwards and the blockage backs out — no opening the machine, no crowbar. Chain drive helps: it delivers full torque at low drum speed without belt slip. Ground material drops out at the bottom, ready to bag or shovel into a feed cart.
In daily use the 800 takes whole corn-stalk bales, dry hay, green fodder, peanut vines, rice and wheat straw, turning them into soft grass meal for cattle and sheep, or chaff for silage rations — a cheap way for a farm to use its own straw instead of buying finished feed.
