Cooling first. Air-cooled engines use fins and a blower, carry no water and no radiator, and suit dry, dusty sites where there is nothing to freeze and nothing to top up. Water-cooled engines hold a steady temperature under long, heavy running and stay quieter, which suits hot climates and full-day milling, but they need coolant and a clean radiator. Starting next. These units start on the key from a 12 V battery, with the manual crank left on the frame as a backup. On the diesel platform we build, a 15 HP engine drives 100-200 kg/h, 22 HP gives 200-250 kg/h and 32 HP gives 250-300 kg/h, on machines of 400 to 800 kg. The belt is not only a drive: it absorbs the shock when a stone or a nail reaches the die, which is the part you will replace first.
Shipping is the one that catches buyers out. A diesel unit leaves the factory with a fuel tank and a lead-acid start battery, and neither is accepted as ordinary container cargo, so it cannot be booked by sea the way an electric pellet mill can. Tell us your port before you order and we will plan around it: drain the fuel and remove the battery at the factory, ship the machine as general cargo with the battery sent separately, or arrange land transport for neighbouring markets.
