Dull Knives Cost You Output: Blade Sharpening Machine for Chipper, Crusher and Chaff Cutter Knives — Weiwei Machinery
Every wood-chipping and feed-processing yard has the same quiet money leak. The knives look fine, so nobody touches them — but the chipper is pulling more amps, the chips are coming out stringy, the hammer mill screen blinds over twice a shift and the straw cutter leaves torn, uneven lengths. Nothing is broken. The edge has simply gone from a shear to a blunt wedge, and the machine is now spending fuel to hammer material apart instead of slicing it.
The blade sharpening machine is the cheapest fix in the workshop. It is a straight-line grinder: the knife is clamped flat on the reciprocating bed, a cup wheel on a 2,800 rpm spindle comes down on the bevel, and the table feeds the full length of the edge past the wheel. Power is 0.55 kW or 1.1 kW depending on the model, on a supply voltage matched to your site. Maximum grinding length is 640–650 mm per clamping and maximum clamped thickness is 20 mm or 40 mm, which covers the common 3- and 4-knife chipper rotors, hammer-mill hammers, chaff-cutter blades and shredder knives.
Three travels are offered. The manual unit strokes 650 mm and weighs around 60 kg on a 910 × 330 × 620 mm frame — light enough for a bench in a small workshop. The semi-automatic versions extend the stroke to 800 mm and 1,600 mm and step up to roughly 180 kg on a 1,100 × 550 × 1,350 mm stand, so long chipper and shredder knives are ground in a single pass without re-clamping. Height is set by a handwheel on top of the head, so you take off a few hundredths of a millimetre per pass and keep the original bevel angle instead of burning the tip.
The payback is direct. A sharp set of knives restores throughput, gives uniform chip size that screens and boilers will actually accept, and drops the amp draw that was tripping your motor protection. Yards that used to buy a spare knife set every season find they can dress the same set four or five times instead. Weiwei Machinery has manufactured agricultural and processing machinery in Zhengzhou since 1980, holds CE and ISO 9001 certification, and builds these grinders to order with the voltage, plug and stroke length your workshop uses.
If your chipper, crusher or chaff cutter has lost its bite, send us the knife length, thickness and bevel angle you run, and we will match a grinder to it — or quote a spare knife set at the same time.
