This feed grinder is made up of a feed port, a rotor, a set of hammers, a screen and a discharge port. The rotor carries 9 blades, and 36 hammers are mounted on it to beat the material down. Grain or straw is fed in from the top, is crushed inside the chamber against the screen, and leaves from the discharge port.
The raw material range is wide. Corn, wheat, soybeans, sorghum, rice and rice husk all go through it, as do dry weeds, corn cobs, peanut shells, dried sweet potato vines, sesame stalks, bean stalks and wheat straw. Bean cake and soybean meal can be crushed as well, so one machine covers both grain and the straw that would otherwise be burned or left in the field.
Fineness is set by the screen, not by guesswork. A 2mm screen gives fine meal for young birds and piglets, and a 6mm screen gives a coarser grind for cattle and sheep. Because the screen is the only thing that sets the fineness, one grinder covers several rations simply by changing it.
The crushed material can be mixed with grain concentrate or premix to make feed. It can also go on to a pellet mill and be pressed into feed pellets. Either way the grinder sits at the front of the feed line, and how evenly it grinds decides how well the mixing and pelleting steps behind it will work.
It is an indispensable feed grinder for large, medium and small farms raising chickens, ducks, geese, cattle, sheep and other livestock. One unit is enough for a family flock, and a larger shed can run several.
