The handheld transplanter replaces the stick. It is a stainless steel tube about 85–86 cm long with a spring-loaded jaw at the bottom and a squeeze handle at the top. You push the jaw into the soil to the depth you want, squeeze the handle so the jaws open, drop the seedling down the tube, then release and lift. The soil closes behind the jaw, the plant stands upright, and the operator stays on their feet the whole time.
Two jaw versions cover different soil and seedling sizes. The three-piece jaw opens to about 15 cm with an overall height of 86 cm; the four-piece jaw opens to about 14 cm at 85 cm overall. Both weigh roughly 1.6 kg, both have a 12 cm handle span and a wide top cap that doubles as a seedling rest, and both are stainless, so wet soil and fertiliser do not rot them. There is no engine, no battery and no adjustment to lose.
It is used for vegetables, tobacco, chilli, cabbage, tomato, melon and flower seedlings, and for filling gaps after germination. Weiwei Machinery has built farm machinery in Zhengzhou since 1980, holds CE and ISO 9001, and exports to Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America.
