Date Palm Frond Crusher MFJ-600: 1800–2500 kg/h Turns Fronds and Date Leaves into Powder — Weiwei Machinery
Date palms are pruned every year, and every pruned frond is a disposal problem. A mature tree sheds 12 to 20 fronds and a mass of old leaf bases in a season, and on a plantation of a few thousand trees that is a heap the size of a house. Burning is banned or restricted in most Gulf municipalities now, and hauling the heap to a dump costs money per load, every load.
The frond itself is the reason it is awkward. A palm frond is a stiff spine with a few hundred leaflets, and the leaflets are tough, silica-rich and stringy. A hammer mill fed with whole fronds will bounce them around the chamber instead of crushing them, and a chipper produces long strips that wrap the rotor. The MFJ-600 is built to take the frond as it comes off the tree: the hopper drops it into a chamber where a rotor carries swing hammers, and the material is held against a screen until it is small enough to pass through. What leaves the machine is a fibrous powder, not strips.
Capacity is 1800 to 2500 kg/h on a 22 kW motor at 380 V, three phase. The machine weighs 330 kg and measures 1600 × 700 × 1050 mm, so it sits on a concrete pad and needs no foundation. The screen sets the fineness, and screens are supplied to match what the powder is going to be used for, from a coarse mulch grind to a fine powder for pressing.
That powder has three uses in the Gulf. It is feedstock for wood pellets and briquettes, where the frond powder is dried to 12–15 % moisture and pressed — palm fibre binds well without extra binder. It is a bulking agent for compost and manure, where the carbon in the frond balances the nitrogen in animal waste. And it is bedding for livestock, because palm powder absorbs and drains better than sawdust in hot climates. In each case the alternative to crushing is burning or dumping, and in each case the powder has a buyer.
Weiwei Machinery has built farm and biomass machinery in Zhengzhou since 1980, holds CE and ISO 9001, and exports to Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and South America. Tell us how many palms you prune, whether the fronds are green or dry, and what the powder is for, and we will confirm the screen, the motor for your voltage and the number of machines the volume needs.
