The DGP80-B works on a simple principle. Dry ingredients - fish meal, soybean meal, cassava or wheat flour, vitamins and oil - are blended and fed by a variable-speed auger into an extended barrel. Inside, the screw and sleeve are longer than on a standard pellet press, so the material is sheared and cooked for a longer dwell time while an electric heater holds the barrel at the set temperature. Pressure builds behind the die, and when the rope of feed exits the die holes the water in the mix flashes into steam and the pellet puffs. That expanded structure is what keeps it on the surface.
Cutting happens at the die face. A soft blade presses against the plate and runs through a stepless speed control, so pellet length is set by blade speed rather than by changing parts, and the cut ends stay clean instead of burred. Pellet diameter is changed by swapping the die: six plates between 1 mm and 15 mm are supplied with each machine, which covers fry feed through to 8 mm grow-out pellets. Change the die and the same machine also runs sinking pellets for shrimp and crab, and pet food or boilie for carp anglers.
The numbers that matter on this model are 22 kW main motor, 1.1 kW feeder and 1.5 kW cutter, 300 to 350 kg per hour through an 80 mm screw, and a footprint of 2.4 by 2.2 by 1.2 m at 900 kg - small enough for a farm shed, big enough to supply a district. A compact 5.5 kW version covers 60 to 80 kg/h for a single pond owner who wants to make his own feed instead of buying bagged pellets.
Two points are worth checking before you buy. First, floating time - the pellets from this line stay on the surface for at least 12 hours without breaking down, which is what lets you see the feeding response and stop overfeeding. Second, hygiene: the barrel reaches high temperature and pressure, which gelatinises the starch, denatures protein for easier digestion and knocks down E. coli and salmonella in the raw materials, so the feed keeps longer in a humid climate.
